The course will cover two major areas: 1) the fundamental of molecular biology; 2) the application of molecular biology to engineering. The details are:

2. Microbial systematic
3. Microbial ecology
4. Gene transfer, mutation, genetic recombination, and cloning.
5. Common methods (FISH, DGGE-PCR, RFLP, microarray, etc)
6. Quantitative and qualitative molecular biology
7. Applications in water and wastewater treatment
8. Applications in soil system
